My samsung watch 5 hasn't been accurately tracking runs for no reason other than the last update really messed woth the GPS. The pace is completely inaccurate. No amount of troubleshooting worked. Any ideas? It's just over 2 years old and it's as if samsung update purposely ruined the GPS on it.

I would also recommend clearing the cache of your watch, especially after an upgrade, but also if it's 'misbehaving'. These instructions are from Reddit and work for Galaxy Watch 5 and 6:

For those of you experiencing worse battery life (or just general software oddities) it might be worth doing a cache wipe after the update and then let it settle for a few days to see if it'll help. I had issues with the battery after the last update and wiping the cache helped, so hopefully it'll work this time too.

How to:

*assuming you're wearing the watch on your left wrist!*

* With the watch on, hold both side buttons until it turns off. Should be about 6 seconds.

* As soon as it turns off start pressing the top button repeatedly until the bootloader menu appears.

* using the top button, select "Recovery mode" and hold the top button until the watch reboots onto the recovery mode.

* Be careful here. Use the bottom button to select "wipe cache partition". Be very careful not to select anything else.

* Press the top button to confirm.

* Press the bottom button to highlight "Yes"

* Press the top button to confirm.

* Once it's done wiping the cache it'll return to the recovery mode menu and it'll have highlighted "reboot system now".

* Press the top button to confirm and it'll restart.

Edit: amended errors.

Done this 3 times, this is impossible to do. I  cleared cache 2 weeks on a call with samsung and it didn't work.

Did 21km road race and the pace was completely wrong and only recorded 20.3km. I crossed the line at the start and finish and the race team got 21km based on my bib.

Sorry but this is very frustrating.  I think it's time to give up on samsung health and go to garmin.

Went for a 5km run just now doing all the above and the watch clocked 3.8km.

NONE of the above solutions worked.

No one reached out from customer care to potentially get the watch repaired.

The watch clearly got skewed by the last update, I've friends with similar issues with samsung watches.

This is the WORST watch out there for tracking fitness.

Nothing happened this watch, it never fell once in 2 years.

Do the world a favour and don't market them as fitness watches, that they most certainly not.

Hi there, @AoifeO. I'm sorry to see that none of the troubleshooting steps provided so far have helped with your issue. Because the fault seems to be software related, it'd be worth sending our software engineers an Error report so they can look into this for you.

To do this, please click here and follow the steps provided. Many thanks.
