I just bought the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 today and I wish to use the watch independently now. I do not want it remotely connected to my phone. However, in the Wearable app the "remote connection" is greyed out and I am unable to disable it. Please help.

I had already tried to make sure that the watch was not connected to the phone, by switching off the wifi, but it wouldnt work.
However, your suggestion about turning on the bluetooth for both did the trick. I was finally able to disable the remote connection.
Yey! Thank you!
I will mark your answer as the solution but I am not sure if it will then allow me to write more or not, so I will write an issue here.
I wanted to disable the remote connection so that the watch will not have to rely on the phone to receive gmail notifications. I receive new emails in the gmail app on watch, only when i run the app and check.
I want to receive notifications on my watch without any connection with the phone but I am unable to.
Can you please help? Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your reply!
Yes, I have the gmail app installed on my Watch 4. I have remote connection and bluetooth disabled. I can check new emails when I open the app but I don't get any notification for a new email when my watch is idle. Is it the same case for you? Can you please choose the same things and try? This way maybe we can figure out if it is a problem just on my end of if the wear OS gmail app lacks the notification feature.
Really grateful for your help. Please let me know. Sorry for asking so much.
