I just bought a Watch 7 to use in Kid mode for my son... We have it all paired w/ my wifes phone via the Samsung gear app as well as the Family link...

It won't make or receive phone calls and calling t-mobile support they are saying this is not supported however the samsung representitives in the store said it should work no problems... I'm trying  to figure out if the watch is messed up or if I need to be on a specific rate plan???

Hi

It would depend whether you bought the lte version or Bluetooth version.

Lte works with a sim anywhere.

Bluetooth requires the phone to be near to work for things like notifications, calls etc and syncing etc.

Any particular reason for getting a smartwatch for your son? And If it OK to ask how old he is?

Hi! Welcome to the samsung members community!

Making calls will always depend on your provider. I assume you have spoken to them about your plan and whether watches are included.

I assume you got the cellular samsung, not the Bluetooth version?

LTE (Cellular) means you can make calls independently without a phone nearby.

Bluetooth means you have to be in Bluetooth range to make a call.

*T-Mobile offers specific plans for smartwatches that include cellular connectivity.

@Adam Stratton: Further to the advice above, please note that you will require the LTE variant of the Galaxy Watch7 in order to make and receive calls without a Bluetooth connection to a smartphone. If you have the LTE variant, then please head to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Mobile plans, and follow the on-screen prompts. Alternatively, head to the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone and select Watch settings > Mobile plans.

Please note that a wearable mobile plan must be activated by your network in order to utilise this feature.

I bought the LTE Version from T-mobile which is has an Esim... My son Is 9 and we love the ability to see where he is at all the time and can only make calls to family from the phone.. before we had the sync up kids watch and it worked fine... by getting him a samsung watch 7 (a $380 watch for free with service) we expect it to work, but its not working.. we cannot get it to make calls and it says there no network

This is a Samsung watch not Apple, I wouldn't be asking for help w/ an apple product.. and yes an LTE Version.. its supposed to work standalone and make and receive calls  and text as thats why it is $20 a month for the service

I have LTE variant and when I go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Mobile plans, it doesn't work.. it errors and goes to a website 132216.jpeg

Thats what the error says when trying to connect the cellular plan which it T-mobile service to a T-mobile Watch 7

no worries, but yes its LTE... and its not allowing the mobile plan to activate on the watch... thats why I'm trying to figure out the specific plan thats needed for T-mobile to work.. I called Tech support and they said they haven't been able to do this since 2018... so I'm very confused and frustrated I cannot get this to make and receive calls...
