Hi, I'm a proud owner of a Galaxy Watch 3 and a S20.

I've googled around and searched here but can't find an answer to a basic question. ie. How to listen easily to podcasts on the watch, syncing with the phone etc..

What's the best app? And easiest way to get the podcasts available while away from the phone.

I found someone mentioned google podcast but that doesn't work. I use Player FM which I really like, but when changing the download location, I still can't find the files to push to the watch in the wearbables app.

Anyone have any ideas?

thanks!

I was excited to read about this workaround for listening to podcasts  as just got the Galaxy Active Watch and Buds live pretty much just for running without my phone.

I created the playlist as suggested and added a podcast which showed up on the watch and even let me download. Unfortunately it doesn’t play. There is a little ‘x’ next to the cloud which I’m assuming means it hasn’t or can’t download even though the button is green indicating that is has downloaded.

any thoughts on this? It’s super frustrating and really surprises me that it’s not a basic feature already on the watch.

I would love this.
The current podcast app availability is very bad. I am not even able to find poddy from the galaxy store and the two I can install both costs me money, but none of them work.

I would also love this feature. It's wild to me that this is a service we would need to request at this point in technology. It's concerning how many basic features don't seem to exist on this thing. A dedicated app for syncing podcasts across devices is a must have.

NZ-Mez, I use the Podcast Addict app and the podcasts go into a folder named: com.bambuna.podcastaddict I guess I originally set it up to go to my SD card on my phone and I have been unable to get it to change to the Samsung Music folder.  Now I really think I prefer eating up the space on my SD Card to store podcasts.  Anyway, once I transfer them to the Samsung Music folder the the Wear app can see them to sync to my GW3.  It requires a few steps and then same steps to cleanup (delete) when done.  It is not elegant but I enjoy having it available at the Fitness Center w/o my phone. A slick podcast app would be nice.  I chose the GW3 over the TicWatch and looking back TW being Android may have suited me better since all things Google would have been in the platform.

I think I saw their solution! Samsung is reportedly going to come out with a Galaxy Watch 4 Q2 2021 and they are giving up on Tizen.  Article said they are going with WearOS. I don't hear good things about WOS but at least it will be Google and hopefully all the apps we are sitting here only dreaming about.  Samsung had a chance to really shine with Tizen and provide a best of bread solution.  Guess the big "G" is too much for them.  Sad day...........

I entirely agree,a dont take by phone out with me.The watch does it all including phone calls. The galaxy is a great device and podcasts are excellent and informative.listening to music while Im out cycling or walking is not my first option. Please introduce this ability and  make a terrific device that much more essential.Thank you.

Poddy works and at least you can download for offline listening, so can use while running/exercising.

The only issue I have now is the fact that the Galaxy Buds pro are a terrible fit and I constantly start other music players as I have to keep pushing the buds back into my ears.

I have uninstalled the music apps, but like to have Spotify still installed for music when I don't want podcasts.

I cannot believe that you can't download podcasts in spotify to the watch. I even tried creating a playlist for the episodes, but that didn't work, they just won't download.

Very disappointing considering the price of both the watch 3 and the Buds pro.

I looked at Poddy but unfortunately I can’t download any additional apps onto my watch as I’m currently using an iPhone and can’t seem to get the Wear app just one that’s called ‘Samsung Galaxy Watch’ and there’s no option for adding apps as per all the instructions I’ve read online.

super frustrating and perhaps a misguided purchase on my part?

Perhaps. And even if you connected to an android phone and installed Poddy, the watch would reset when you reconnect it to the iphone...

How to get Google Podcasts on Samsung watch:

Step1: Download podcasts on your Phone (Obviously)

Step2: Connect your phone to a PC ( you can do this on your phone, its just easier on a PC) and navigate to \Android\data\com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox\files\Podcasts  ( inside your phones internal storage)

Step3: Copy all the files in the folder( They are files without any extension, look at the below image) to a new folder somewhere on your PCScreenshot (8).png

Step4: We have to convert the files into mp3's.(Basically renaming the files)
There are many methods to do this.
Method 1: Rename individual files into .mp3's .( this is if you only have a couple files)
                      example:   nonsensefilename --------->    nonsensefilename.mp3
Method2: For many files:-

  • open the folder in which you have copied all the podcasts
  • hold SHIFT key and right click somewhere on the file explorer
    Screenshot (13).png

  • select " open command window here "
  • in the cmd type :  " ren *.* *.mp3 "
this will convert all your files to mp3.
    Screenshot (14).png

    Final ResultFinal Result

  • You can copy these files back to your Phone, and then through the wearable app send it to your watch.

**Note** :  If you want to rename the files before copying you can do it all at once

  • CTRL +A   - select all files
  • right click on any of the files and select rename - or click F2 to rename
right click on any file, changing name of any 1 file will change the name of all filesright click on any file, changing name of any 1 file will change the name of all files

  • Type : "Podcast" - or whatever you want to name it

It will automatically rename all the files "podcast" with a number next to it in sequential order.

Thats it! copy these to your watchThats it! copy these to your watch

 That's it!
