Heyo. Wanted to add a little light to a really handy feature that most would never think about.

I believe this is supported on the galaxy watch 5 and newer. The little feature being the IR temperature sensor usually used to measure skin temperature during sleep and improve period tracking.

It can be used for more.

Samsung didn't just lock it to their software, they allowed apps running on the watch to be able to use this sensor.

There's a few apps that can use this but I found thermo check for free so that's how I use the sensor.

With a compatible app, you can find out the temperature of anything 5cm away from the watch. Simply open the app, take off the watch and hold it over the thing you want to measure, press measure and you get a temperature.

Works on solid objects, water, food. Honestly really useful for times you need to quickly find out the temperature of an object.

Newer pixel phones have this same feature built in and it's used as a selling point. Never seen samsung mention the fact their watches do it, so I thought some of you might find this info handy.
