The Ultra - Galaxy Watch Ultra (Product Testing) - First Impressions

Now I wasn't sure of the design when it was first launched...but this was certainly a case of seeing it in person, and seeing people wearing it as the design has certainly grown on me - kind of has a GShock vibe, no?

As with other wearables, once turned on a pop up greets you on your phone asking to confirm the device and guides you through the set up process 

Set up

There has recently been a big ol' update for this 7 series so the almost 1gb software update was completed.

Now this watch is a bit of a chonk... HOWEVER, it doesn't feel bulky...which is surprising...but relative to any previous watch weight I know (I came from a watch 6 classic with a pretty weighty stainless band)

I like the white. It's quite bold, works well with the metal accents.

Transferring over from my previous was so seamless that I didn't even know it was all done...the 6 classic disconnected immediately after acknowledging the Ultra and the swap was underway.

All ultra watches are LTE enabled, I don't have an esim so can't test this feature unfortunately, but below is how to set it up 👇

My comparisons will be against my GW6 Classic (which I'm hoping to upgrade to the new classic 8 this year 🤞)

Almost all the core features are the same as previous generations, with iterative improvements and faster speeds. As with phone upgrades, you don't typically see night and day improvements anymore, it's nip and tucks here and there... This ultra is certainly a bit snappier around the UI and the screen to my eye is more fluid and smooth.

I'll be testing battery, health tracking and other capabilities throughout my time with it, let's see if it's enough to draw me away from my beloved GW6C!!

I haven't gone back to my watch 6 classic at all since getting mine

I currently use the watch 7 44mm as ive never seen any real reason to get the Ultra variant.

I would love to hear if they is any differences between the Ultra and the Watch 7.

Certainly looks pretty attractive,even if the Ultra is not for me. Look forward to hearing how you find it after the extensive testing.

The ultra dials a few things up like durability, water depth, battery size etc along with the obvious design difference.

The other main thing, for those that want it, are enhanced exercise tracking capabilities.

Yes always great to test these products, I personally won't benefit from the enhanced exercise tracking abilities which is why I'm really hoping the new GW8C will be my upgrade.

Not always. I usually buy smart watches for function not design. The watch 7 stood out more for me (mainly because Vodafone are charging me £8 a month instead of £24) and the straps can be changed to black if i so want to, ive just enjoyed the default green straps ive gotten.

I went GW6 Classic 47mm to the Ultra, yes the screen is smaller it is big for no reason, but aside from the GEN2 SGW this is the best (for me).
