Galaxy Watch 4 & Google Pay?

Hi everyone, I've noticed that Google Pay will be installed in the new Galaxy Watch 4 but won't be supported at that minute so won't work. Could anyone clarify this or give more information on what the outcome of it all will be.

Luckily it appears you can still pay if you have the app open, just tried it.

in the settings on the galaxy wearable phone, you can change the setting as by pressing twice, select google pay and leave samug pay as a long press on the number 1 button.
Unfortunately, this application does not work properly. I can't pay at all with my watch, even though the card is properly installed

Same for me in Greece too. Tried everything but it says no payment app installed. Gpay is installed and I can see the cards. When I open the Gpay to pay, nothing happens

That's weird, once I manually open the app on my watch i can just put the watch against a card reader and pay no problem.

Has anyone gotten Gpay working without actually having the app open? Or is the only way to be in the app showing the card before tapping the watch against the terminal?

I don't get what the "Pay with open app" option is for? it doesn't change anything.

I think if you're in a country that supports samsung and Google play by default you can set a default nfc pay app and then you can use Google pay without opening it (settings-connections-nfc-payment). 

Pay with open app (I don't even have that option) means that if you set the default app as Samsung pay, you can open Google pay and use that. Otherwise the watch would override it and still use Samsung pay.

I received my watch 4 classic 46mm yesterday. I installed Google pay from the "watch apps" which then redirects you to finalise on your mobile. Samsung pay was not my default method. Followed the prompts to add lock screen and my card, got a verification from my bank it was added, still need to find out if it works at the POS end
