Galaxy Ring heart rate monitor NOT continuous

Hi. So i got my ring today and I note that if i set it to measure heart rate continuously it doesn't do it. It still seems to do it every ten minutes. My watch 5 pro does this just fine, but the ring does not. I have checked settings and even reset the ring. The ring fits just fine and has full charge. Has anyone else got this problem? If they don't address it then it's going back. For a £400 ring i expect this to work.

@archiebun: I have looked into this for you, and it doesn't appear to be possible to enable continuous heart rate tracking on the Galaxy Ring. The ring will still periodically measure your heart rate, and the results can be viewed via the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone (Heart rate > View all). To manually check your heart rate, head to the Wearable app > Heart rate > Measure, and tap 'Save' to store the record. I apologise for any disappointment this may cause you.

EDIT: I spoke with our Product Specialists, and the Galaxy Ring does continuously measure your heart rate, however this is by default, which is why it is not referenced in the user manual.

Are you sure? The ring is supposed to recognize exercise sessions, and during those sessions many data including heart rate should be recorded continuously.

Thanks for the reply, but in the settings it specifically DOES let me set it for continuous measurement. Samsung put that choice in, so it should work.

I'd also add that since it can give you a warning about high or low heart rates then that alert should be immediate, not a matter of time later when potentially you could have already died or something. So Samsung these warnings NEED real time hear rates.

I'll also add this is not solved in any way. Samsung offer functionality that they cannot back up.

I have a question I'm thinking about getting the ring and I already have the watch ultra and the fold I would like to know if I do get the ring will that make the reading that the watch gives more accurate or will it just be doing the same and the reading will be taken from the watch and not the ring

This issue is certainly not solved. I second the motion to reopen the topic. Samsung seems to be confused as to the meaning of continuous. Continuous eludes to real-time tracking. This would mean user can see their heart rate at any given moment without the need for a 'measure' button. What the ring currently offers is neither continuous nor real-time but, rather, periodic interval sampling. Perhaps they avoid continuous sampling in order to limit power-usage on the ring, but the reason matters not. Calling these measurements continuous is a marketing snafu at best, a language barrier issue at middle, or a bold deception at worst.

I don't know if owning the watch would provide actual continuous real-time tracking, but as a ring-only owner I can say this is extremely disappointing. The next worst infraction is the disabling of the spo2 measurement except during sleep. The software team (and the FDA approval team) needs to work on these items ASAP.

Otherwise, I like the currently available features... but there should be more available features. I don't care if adding these features reduces the battery life. The user should have the option to use the hardware they purchased. Do better, please.

Hi,

I'm also trying to get my ring to measure continouly, just as my watch does, but I'm not being able to. As the original poster mentioned, it measures every 10ish minutes. I can't find any menu to change that. How can I enable it?

Same as above this is REALLY disappointing that I can't see my HR during exercise hopefully just needs Samsung to update the software
