So I received my Xbox Series X today, connected it to HDMI 4 using the bundled HDMI 2.1 cable and everything was fine until...I tried to play a game. Settings on the console were 4K, 120hz with HDR10 on auto and VRR enabled. As soon as I start a game my Q80T (55 inch) disconnects from the Xbox and shows a no signal error. From here I can press the Xbox button on the controller and switch apps and then I get significant screen tearing and flickering in menus.
As soon as I disable VRR on the Xbox it works fine. Hoping someone else has tested this with other cables or can offer solutions.
This guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8-6DmN9Gw4&feature=youtu.be was able to demonstrate that 4K 120hz with Freesync was possible on PC, so I'm hoping an update to TV or Xbox firmware will sort it out.
Edit: as Kyljaiden pointed out, some regions have version 1403 firmware. To clarify, I'm in Australia and we do not have that firmware update as yet and are stuck on 1402. Need to wait for confirmation from another user that 1403 replicates the 120hz VRR issues.
Edit2: Daparky shared this link https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/xba_console/known-issues-on-xbox-series-xs/221c9d7f-d... confirming that Microsoft are aware of the issues.
Edit3: SOLVED - a number of users have reported that 1403 firmware fixes the issue I've detailed. Unfortunately some regions do not have access to this firmware yet and will simply need to wait until Samsung push out the updates locally.

After few hours of some more troubleshooting I was able to come up with a relatively painless workaround for my VRR flicker issue. Basically XSX has two extra settings in Video Modes menu. One is for ALLM and the other is VRR. ALLM on it's own keeps the TV in normal mode and engages Game Mode on the TV only when the game actually launches so dashboard is not forcing Game Mode on TV. However, if both ALLM and VRR are selected in Xbox then that does not occur. Meaning even dashboard will force TV to be in Game Mode. So as soon as I switch input on my AVR to Xbox the Game Mode on the TV is active. So what I did is I deselected ALLM inside Xbox settings but left VRR turned ON. And low and behold, VRR is working without screen flicker. And my Xbox still switches TV to game mode when I change AVR input to it. I don't watch any movies or anything like that since I have my Shield TV for that purpose so it's a perfect workaround to my problem as I don't require ALLM.

Q95T here, black screen when starting a game on Xbox Series X, using 4k/120hz HDR VRR. Running latest firmware in the UK.
Not sure what the issue is? So I am using 4k/120hz VRR, to avoid the issue.
There is another issue though, some games fail to show in HDR. Like when I start a game, the HDR does not kick in. I have to exit the game and start it again and it shows up in HDR.

With my samsung 65 q85r I'm experiencing something like described in another forum but actually the issue affect every game if the tv is set into 120hz.
"I started playing cod mw on my new xbox series x and I noticed that, during the campaign (for example safe house mission), the textures turn into kind of green color when moving the pad in any direction.
For example, looking at a wall, standing still everything is ok, when I make a move I see some parts of the textures becoming weird color, like changing into something wrong.
It's a random issue since it is not visible playing multiplayer and restarting same mission.
Same proble with cold war.
My initial video settings were 4k 120hz with raytracing forced off by the game.
First mission, I could see the neons of the bar kind of turning into green.
Than I switched the settings into 60hz and raytracing on and the game seemed to be ok but I thing that the rebooting of the game fixed it.
I underline that the issue is visible if You pay attention to it, it may be confused with lights effects or reflections."

Have you ever changed a cable (Hdmi 2.1 cable)? Maybe that's the problem..

I have a Q90T with the same setup. I'm finding that on some games the TV seems to disconnect (goes black) for apprx 5 seconds then automatically comes back on...it's also happening quite often. I have the latest firmware installed and have tried various resolution / refresh rate / VRR settings to no avail. Have by chance had this issue?
