Model: UE55JS9000

I noticed my TV was getting darker and darker. Thus has been going on for the past 3 years. So 3 years after I purchased the TV.

Even though the TV is still displaying a picture I didn't think to raise a concern. Although I'm noticing it more and now, especially when trying to watch HD stuff as the screen is so dim and you can really tell it's not HD. Take a look at the photo.

What's going happened to the TV? Is this a known defect with these TVs? Is it worth getting it repaired and any idea how much it would cost?

I also bought my dad the same kind of TV which at the time was around £1800, I bought one for myself and one for my dad. My dad's TV still looks as sharp as ever so what's happened to mine?

Hmmm after doing some research it seems like there's a known issue which Samsung have failed to rectify and there was a class action law suit against them as I also have these problems on the TV too:

Thanks for the support Samsung! (Joke)

@micky007  As already explained the backlight has gone and it may be a failed power board.  Pity you did not report this before, you could reach out to Samsung support to escalate the matter. However I am taking it that you may no longer be covered by warranty.  There is also option of seeking redress from retailer, however if fault develops after 6 months the burden of proof is more on the owner to prove there was a known problem with the good at the time of purchase.  https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/advice/what-do-i-do-if-i-have-a-faulty-product

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.
