UE55MU9000 - Unable to turn off screen when playing music

This ability to turn off the screen when playing music is very useful when using applications like TuneIn. Even when playing music from youtube, many times you want just to listen, not to watch. Also, for many youtube music videos, picture is static.

I saw that this functionality was available for Samsung TV models until recently. For example: Turning off the picture but not the sound (2013-2015 TVs).

From some reason, this is impossible in my brand new UE55MU9000. If this is true, I believe that Samsung can provide such functionality in one of the next software updates.

I have an app on my AppleTV that I use to play white noise, it has an option to called, "display off". It is suppose to allow you to turn the screen off and still play the white noise, it hasn't been doing that, the screen goes "dark" but it only displays a black screen that is too bright to allow me to sleep. 

by selecting that option when the screen is turned off the screen goes completely dark and still plays the audio in the background.

This is actually a detour solution to a function that should have been ther in the first place. The function wa there not long ago then some confused project group decided that it's no longer needed. Samsung is as reluctant to fix this as Spotify to have a screensaver function.

Sad that they won't release a proper fix but for what I am wanting this works absolutely perfectly.

You don't have to buy an Apple TV. This setting works for any device or function you do that your television recognizes it has been turned off or put on sleep!

I think you've lost the plot, the idea is to be able to have the tv apps/free to air tiv) play sound without having the picture displayed.

Whether you connect some device to your tv and have it display the pic or not is irrelevant to the issue.

please add a display off button in your next firmware update  on my q900r 2019 model. This is killing me !!! It is needed very badly. Wile your at it, also add earc to port 3 please. Then i will be happy. I will also be happy if port 4 is actually hdmi 2.1 by the time the new xbox comes out. These by far are the 3 most important things needed for the  qn65q900rbfxza 2019 model.
