We have a 55JU6800 TV which is just 18 months old.   We have a problem that started a few months ago.   The screen at the bottom would be a lot darker when the TV was switched on but after a couple of minutes would sort itself out and was fine.  Now, though, the screen is staying dark at the bottom all the time and doesn't clear.   We can still see the picture through it but it is very irritating.   Has anyone else had the same problem and is there a fix for it?

I have just starter to get this today Tv is 3 years old. This is the second Samsung I have had in 5 years the first one the screen started going dark then just completely failed, that was roughly  2 years old the retailer gave me roughly 50% back (consumer law in Scotland)

I have always bought always bought Samsung TVs and just thought it was was just bad luck with this tv, but 2 in five years that’s not right.

added photos below as i did the screen test

Same problem with my over 3 years old KS7000 TV but I am still watching on it, and have no choice than throw it away. It's hard to buy another over thousand wort of new TV now that they have an offer no trust of technology right now.

My TV looks EXACTLY like that now. Did you ever figure out how to fix it or what the issue was?

As I purchased it from curry’s and it was under 5 years old I asked for an out of warranty repair which I had to pay £95 for, they found the problem to be a manufacturer fault and fixed it free of charge, I have also been told that will be getting the out of warranty repair fee back. FYI this was me explaining the events in a nut shell. I have been fighting with curry’s for over a month now as they have been playing dumb, but finally they took my tv for repair.

Mine went after 18 months Outside of warranty. I wrote to the Samsung ceo of UK. He gave permission to repair for free .I also put bbc watch in the email and stated on the Samsung forum that it sounds like a common fault . Try that .

contact the shop you purchase it from, under consumer law it is covered for up to five years if it is a manufacturing fault, the shop may ask for a fee to assess it but you should get that back. What shop did you purchase it from?

Most of the time these dark black clouds on an LCD screen are simply dust and dirt that accumulates from gasses produced by the "backlight". To draw an exploded view with (this) text a flat panel screen is trim > screen > inverter (electronic circuitry gadget) and backlight fixture > a (usually flat white colored) backlight reflector that just looks like a big white cover of some sort > and the back cover usually has the input/output ports, speakers, cooling fans and the back panel has vents in it for air circulation.

The white cover looking thing is where the black clouds usually are. If you venture in to taking it apart, which I do not recommend and take absolutely ZERO responsibility if anyone reading my response here takes their TV apart and screws it up, you'll see that black dust/dirt/carbon-like residue is in the same exact spots on the backlight reflector as it is on your screen. You might also notice the same gunk on the back of the screen in the same spots you see the dark spotty clouds when it's on and operating.

It wipes off and cleans up with just simply water or alcohol and a soft cotton or microfiber rag.

The don'ts:
- DON'T use any kind of cleaner except water or rubbing alcohol. Don't use Windex, don't use clorox or some kind of cleaning/disinfecting wipe; nothing but water or alcohol.

- Don't use anything but a *SOFT* cotton rag or microfiber fabric. Paper towels are convenient but they are not soft they are abrasive. Use one of your Holy white socks and file it with the bin gods when you're done if you don't want to wash and wear it again. If you're not 100% sure it's cotton or microfiber don't use it.

Reason for the don'ts: Damage prevention.

As a disclaimer on the post above, please be aware, this would void your warranty. We would always recommend a Samsung authorised engineer performing all repairs and internal maintenance.
