Trying to connect a sound bar to my tv

I'm trying to connect my new sound bar to my Samsung TV the manual for the sound bar says I need to select the soundbar on the TV sound setting menu but the sound select is greyed out, how do I connect my sound bar

To select in the sound settings make sure the soundbar is connected and switched on before accessing the menu.
