The Frame Slideshow feature request

Hello, I have had The Frame in my living room for a little while now, and I have found that the slideshow desperately needs the following features:

  • Randomize the Slideshow Sequence - When showing a collection, the sequence always starts at the beginning of the collection. We need to be able to randomize the order in which the art is being shown so that it doesn't always start with the same thing.

  • Skip to the next picture - During the Slideshow, the ability to skip to the previous or next picture would be highly useful. We should be able to use the currently unassigned Left or Right arrow buttons to do this. Sometimes when viewing, .e.g a curated collection, something will come that is undesireable, or sometimes it can even scary for my children! When this happens, my only recourse is to start the collection over again from the first slide.

  • Set a default mode for the Mat. I don't like the virtual frames that get put around the pictures. In some cases it looks ridiculous and totally unconvincing. I would like to default the Mat to only fill the whole frame, no digital whitespace around it. Having to set this on a picture by picture basis is not good. If the picture cannot fill the frame, then I do not want to show it.

I’m on that version. “Software Update” is greyed out - inactive. Slide show options still show 10 minutes as least duration.

I think you can also update it with a thumb drive. Might try power cycling it. For what it's worth, mine is a 2019.

Here's hoping you don't have to call support. >_<

I think you have to leave an open app and enter live TV mode to get "Software update" not greyed out and active.

Wahoo - finally! Lucky you!

No such joy here: our 2019 Frame (QA55LS03RASXNZ) is stuck on version 1385, and informs us there is no update.

It's promising that at least some models are being updated though....

Ha, as expected!  I was wondering…

I have a 2019 version as well, though it’s in storage at the moment while I move house so I can’t test yet.

I guess Samsung finally got enough feedback that it was affecting future sales, but still don’t care enough about existing customers to support previous models.  It’s not like the changes would be hard to implement or previous hardware couldn’t handle it.  Just lazy, careless, terrible customer/product support. Again.

Lesson learned I guess, will keep paying the premium for Apple gear that I at least know will be supported and constantly improved for several years after purchase.

I would try updating via USB. Pretty sure that's a thing.

OK, thanks.

I've checked at the download centre though, and the version I have (1385, updated 28th July 2021) is the latest for my model - but still no change in the slideshow options... ☹️

Version 1385 as well, frame 2019. I was so happy when I read there was an update with random slideshow  feature above... but nothing for me. No update. I can't believe honestly, this is such a shame.

I won't recommend the product to anyone. I saw on 2021 frame version that random display is here; so why not porting this to firmware 2019.

a shame really. This TV is full of bloatware, tons of app you just can't uninstall and worse there's no proper display features for pictures... and push everywhere for subscribing to art gallery. A joke, and a bad one at that.
