Starting a Class Action Suit Related to Samsung Terrace

We are in communication with a law firm to start a class action suit in connection with the Terrace outdoor TVs.  We are a custom installation company, and we have sold about 10 - 12 of these sets annually.  When Samsung released this product, its own ad campaign showed the set installed without an overhang.  We are finding out these sets can fail if installed without overhead cover.  When we asked for warranty service, we were told that if Terrace is installed without an overhand, it cannot be serviced under warranty.  We were told the sets have instructions related to this, but having installed that many of these sets, if there is any kind of warning, it is not in the actual installation document we have seen.  In any case, if Samsung promotes the set in its own ad campaign installed without an overhang, it cannot then consider the warranty void for consumers installing their sets as the ad shows.  We are looking for additional consumers who have had this experience in order to proceed with out class action suite.

Hi @CustomInstaller ,

We'd like to look into this further for you. Can you send us a Private Message to our Sam_UK account with more information (e.g. contact details, reference numbers from when you've spoken to Samsung Support)? Guide on how to send a Private/Direct Message here if you need it: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/samsung-lounge/how-to-send-a-private-message-on-the-samsung-comm...

Please add me to your suit, we have had the same problem the only instruction related to was to not put it directly against it for overheating purposes. No mention of anything else. I have saved the same advertisement with the TV setting next to a pool covered by nothing.

Hi @dsh1 ,

Can you tell us more about what's gone wrong with your Terrace TV? Which country are you based in? Have you been in touch with Samsung Support? If so, what have they advised?

(Also, like Custominstaller, feel free to Private Message our Sam_UK account with any reference numbers etc. if you'd like the team here to look into things at the Samsung side for you.)

@AntS / @Sam_UK  - I'm based in the UK, and so far my experience with Samsung Support has been less than satisfactory unfortunately. is there a way to speak to you directly regarding this, ideally via phone?

Thanks

Sorry to hear that about your experience with Support, @dsh1 .

The Community team here are purely online based, and don't have a separate phone line for customer contact.

And just to mention, as an alternative, if you have social media, you can also reach out to our Social Media colleagues @SamsungUK  via Private/Direct Message.

Hi , I am a custom installer too and purchased a Samsung terrace via a credible supplier to the industry in August 2022. I was hoping to offer supply and installation to my customers.  My screen is covered under a pergola and not exposed to direct sunlight because of foliage above it, but about a month ago 1 vertical line appeared from top to bottom on the left hand side. I phoned supplier support and Samsung support who advised it sounded like panel failure. They also advised that it only had a 1 year warranty, which I find totally unacceptable for such an expensive product. I thought i had registered for 5 year extended but was told the supplier wasn’t on the list. A harsh lesson for me to swallow but none the less I should have looked into it more before purchasing.

I’ve since had a company quote me for a replacement panel to fix for a punchy price but they then only offer a 3 month warranty. I again find this terrible … but they have said that warranty is the length it is due to Samsung’s replacement parts and repair policy ?

I decided against getting it fixed at the time , but now I’ve got several more lines appear top to bottom across the whole panel so now I really need to get it sorted as it’s totally unwatchable. I’m disappointed with both my supplier and Samsung for not being able to help support me more as I work within the industry.

I’m wondering if i get it fixed can i take out some seperate insurance that covers me in case it happens again in the future?

Please can you add me to this and provide any update on the situation
