Surely there must be a way to disable this? If I'd known I'd be getting this I'd have brought a different brand. It's annoying me to the point where I'm serious considering getting rid. Sounds dramatic but it feels invasive.

You can get rid of the ads!
If you have parent control on your router block the url: "samsungads.com"
It works 🙂

Talked with Samsung chat and been informed that it is not disablable since it is a built-in feature. I also found a Korean news article (http://cm.asiae.co.kr/article/2016053100193010653), which basically says that Samsung has been doing this since 2016 for all premium TV lineup. (Yes I am a Korean living in US who is stupid enough to purchase Samsung TV in 2019, three years later than Samsung started this customer-fooling business) They say it is a "business strategy", which would maximize their profit, how proud they are! I purchased two 65" Q7 TVs but I am returning both tomorrow morning as soon as I wake up.

I didn't think you could disable it! I may have got a bit excited by the chap who said there was a way to do it but my understanding was that it was something that is hard coded.
I think Samsung should at least tell their potential customer's that this feature is in the TV. Surprised a class action law suit hasn't been filed against them.
I'm currently looking for a replacement. The money has been spent so I'll probably end up donating my current TV to charity or something.

I'm having the same issue in Canada and will not be buying any more Samsung products unless this is resolved. I did not buy your television so that you could shove ads down my throat every time I turn it on!

Good for you! Had I known they were going to do this, I would never have bought their product in the first place!

Amen!
