QN90D frustrating buzzing on standby

I have read numerous posts online about the infamous Samsung mosquito, the buzzing noise from TVs.  I have the QN90D and the buzzing only occurs when on standby, the TV is great when I'm actually watching it.  Unfortunately I bought the TV for the bedroom and when the TV is on standby the buzzing noise starts and is unrelenting throughout the night.  The TV is still under warranty bought in Nov '24.

Samsung have asked me to send in video files via email, and with a 25mb email limit on attachments, I've had to send in multiple emails of short video clips to include the things they've requested.  (don't get me started).  They've remotely accessed the TV, I've unpluged the TV for 24hrs,  and asked for photos of my plug socket (I said don't get me started).  I've given all they asked for and have had this increasingly uneasy feeling that I'm getting the brush off.

Finally they tell me this is thermal expansion, quite 'normal' they say..... and there's the brush off.

So I've emailed support@samsunguk.zendesk.com but the reply said the email is no longer active, and have emailed CAB .  The only thing I haven't tried is a mosquito repellant in the bedroom, I'm surprised Samsung hasn't suggested that.

I mean yes return it, but buying direct from Samsung online, I couldn't just take it back, so this is what I did.

  • Read the Consumer Rights Act 32015, quote this every time you speak to someone.
  • Write a letter to Head Office quoting your statutory rights

On the day I did this, the repair was booked.  The warranty is a bit of a distraction really, as the Consumer Rights Act would apply even without it.

Did Samsung manage to repair your TV? I've got the same issue and wondered if it was worth the hassle of dealing with Samsung. I've read other model numbers suffer from the same buzzing in standby and seems to be a "design feature". Thanks.

They did send a contractor out to repair the TV, but the fault remains.  In fact now there is something odd  going on with the screen.  In any case I've asked for a refund and am awaiting collection instructions.  If you can't live with the fault (I certainly can't), then quote the Consumer Rights Act when you call them, and write a letter to Head Office also quoting your statutory rights.  You can use Chat GPT to write the letter, simples.   If you've had the set for more than 30 days Samsung will want to first try and repair the set, which in my case they did at home, then you can ask for a refund.  I think it's a design fault, not a feature, and won't be a problem with all sets.  Good luck.
