Having installed the my QE49Q6FN and satellite aerial into the TV, auto-tuned all channels - it worked perfectly! "Freesat LiveTV" app available on apps menu - good. PVR also recorded channels as expected - great.

Days later the "Freesat Live TV" app disappeared. The next day it re-appeared. Days later it disappeared again, not to be seen since. The Broadcasting menu in settings is also greyed out.

How I get my Freesat LiveTV app back?

** UPDATE **

Glad to see I'm not the only person experiencing this problem and similar. The very poor Customer Service from Samsung is disappointing.

Due to the built-in PVR also being rather **** and not, or half, recording programs, I have spent hours trying different things and finally found a solution that should work for all. It's so simple as well......

Unscrew you satellite cable from the rear of your unsupported Samsung TV and re-attach them to a Freesat set-top PVR. Hey presto - a device that fully works. All channels displayed and recordings starting/stopping in this with the broadcasted programme and a SeriesLink facility that records when the next episode is shown.

Samsung should take a look into these facilities, it would seriously improve their TV's and could make their review ratings a lot higher.

Has anyone had any update on this issue? Go a brand new QE50Q80A TV delivered yesterday. So far every other time I've turned on the TV, the Freesat option disappears! Need to return every time to get the option back... This bug sucks, Samsung need to fix this urgently!

Many thanks for your message. Just wasted an hr trying to find the freesat TV icon but your tip git me to a solution. Press channel list button the select terrestrial and change it to freesat. Definitely looks like a bug to me

It is shocking that nobody from Samsung has responded to this. It is either a bug that needs fixing or an incompatibility between satellite tv and Samsung tv that should be more readily promoted as a feature?

After fiddling around with the settings, I've finally got a working solution. I haven't had the issue since.

If you go to main Settings > Broadcasting > Auto Tuning Settings > Standby Auto Tuning.

Turn off Standby Auto Tuning. Seems to be a bug where the TV will attempt to retune whilst in standby, but fails and clears existing channels.

Hope this helps someone, took me a while to figure it out!

My issue occurs as soon as I launch the Samsung TV Plus icon, when I switch back I have lost Freesat and have to switch from Terrestrial to Satellite each time.

I purchased a Samsung QE43Q60AA yesterday and have exactly the same issue as yours. I am already I am getting totally fed up with reconfiguring back to Freesat each time I have finished watching a channel on TV Plus.

I have removed the terrestrial aerial lead from the TV as the tuner in this tv doesn't appear to be anywhere as sensitive as that in my previous 6 year old Samsung 40 inch tv and is unable to pick up any channels at all, even though the signal is perfectly adequate for the old tv. Annoyingly it still defaults back to Terrestrial after viewing TV Plus, even though there no aerial input. Ridiculous!!

I am seriously considering taking the tv back as there doesn't seem to be any fix for it!!

I don't know why but the problem seems to have stopped happening for me. Maybe there was a software update, dunno but freesat always stays selected now

As of S/W version 2101 this issue seems to be updated and mostly fixed.

It is now possible to switch between SamsungPlus and Satellite (FreeSat) without the  Satellite app disappearing from the smart hub app bar. There is no delay and switching either way is usable.

There is no combined  Satellite \ SamsungPlus guide however so you do need to switch services and then use the guide. No a big issue but it is inconsistent as there is an aerial tuner (Freeview) \ SamsungPlus  combined guide.

Happy viewing!

Agreed, I had stopped watching SamsungPlus so had not noticed that the issue had now been fixed. My S/W version is also 2101. Thanks for calling this out.

I agree. They have a forum on their site so they can monitor feedback, but fail to respond if they don’t have an answer.

I prefer forums that are not run by manufacturer as I believe the only reason, they want to runs these things is so they can govern the content

If you know of a non-samsung-run Samsung forum, let me know.
