Q90T - Ghosting in Dark Scenes

Good afternoon,

I am in need of advice as I am experiencing some issues with my new Q90T TV and would like to know if there is anything I can do to resolve this. I am also interested to know if others with this set experience similar issues (or none at all hopefully!).

The issue is only present (or noticeable) in dark scenes, and is much worse when running at 120Hz. I am aware there were ghosting issues with this set but was under the impression they were resolved by a recent firmware update, hence taking the plunge and purchasing one.

Here's a list of what I have tried so far:

  • Updated firmware to 1402.6 (EU)
  • Different HDMI sources (two different PCs and an XBOX)
  • Different HDMI cables (including a 48GBPs one)
  • A different TV (the issue is not visible)
  • VRR on/off
  • HDR on/off
  • Game mode enabled/disabled (game motion plus is unavailable with a 120Hz signal)

I received some feedback on a different platform that this issue will be present for all TVs of this model due to the VA panel and I am hoping this is not the case. I will primarily game on this TV so good gaming performance is a must for me.

I have contacted Samsung and am awaiting another call back however would appreciate the input from other owners of this (or similar) models because aside from this issue the TV is fantastic. I haven't been let down by a Samsung TV so far so hopeful this is just a faulty unit.

Can ghosting be caused by a faulty panel? Is there anything else I can try short of a return? Are any of you experiencing/can recreate the same issue?

I am having exactly the same issue with Q80T firmware 2014. I am afraid this is the same for all 2020 Samsung QLED TVs. It can be reproduced just by moving the attached image from side to side and watching the tree and the roof of the cottage.Untitled.png
