I've a Samsung led smart TV 40inch not sure on the model number can get it if needed. But the screen has just plused a bright white light for less than a second while off (on standby mode) only noticed as it was in the middle of the night.

Has anyone else had this and more importantly is it safe?

Don't think the TV is a year old yet.

I'm noticing the same thing with my Samsung 65. I'm trying to find out what's going on. Any help please!

So I can confirm this happening as well. I have camera footage. I setup a camera facing the TV. This light flashes about 3 or 4 times nightly. I have 2 cameras setup in my living room facing the TV just to catch the event. Sure enough I caught it? I hope there is a way to fix this issue.

So to confirm, I turned on the tv for about 5 seconds then took a video exactly two hours later. See image. Although it’s not as bright (might be brighter depending on length of time tv is in) it definitely shows something happens.  As you can see standby light is on.

my security camera sent me an alert and recorded the flash. This is a screen capture from video. Flash seemed to just be at bottom middle where red power light is located.

I hooked up my new crystal UHD series 7 55 inch tv four days ago. On the next day I left the house for the week. I turned on my notifications for my camera inside. I then started getting event notifications at  dark til first light every 50 minutes. It was a flash like lightning but I saw a circle on my wall that was concentrated. I panned the camera to the tv and left it like that. The next night I received the same notifications as the previous only I can confirm it is a light in the tv and the bottom in the center. It flashes like a camera every 50 minutes  from sunset to sunrise and the tv is confirmed off. Capture of camera video on light flash.

We've had our 55" samsung tv for 3 years but only have noticed these bright white flashes over the last 6 months while I've got the tv on. Really evident when it happens and the screen is during a very dark or black screen moment. You know your owners manual has a warning to "watch what you say in the presence of your Samsung TV as it randomly listens and records you for marketing purposes". We have 6 samsung devices, 3 tvs, 3 phones and 2 tablets. We have noticed distinct marketing trends after things we've discussed while in the room with any one of the devices. The flashes definitely feel like a rapid flash photo is being taken. Not cool. bad enough that I can't discuss hiding dead hookers while on the same room but do they really need a picture of me flossing my teeth in my pjs? Quite invasive. Feel free to test it be discussing dome very specific topics and then notice what ads you get literally within a day or 2.

Big Bro'd to the max. 👀🦻📸⁉️😑

My 40 inch Samsung television has begun flashing random white light in the middle of the night while in standby mode. The flashes have grown from flashing white lines to broad bands and occur about 2 hours after the TV is turned off. I see that others have posted similar events over the past year and a half with no reply from Samsung. If this happens again, I will have to replace the TV. I like this Samsung and would have considered buying another, but if Samsung doesn't reply to posts like this, I will be forced to return to Sony for my replacement.
