I have my XB1X set up for 4K and HDR output.

When i play a 4K HDR game such as Wolfenstein 2 the TV does not tag up that it is playing a HDR video as it does on my Samsung 8500 Blu-Ray player.

If I play a 4K Bluray disc on my XBX1 such as The Martian a banner pops up saying HDR video playing so all the settings bewteen my XB1X and TV are set correctly, so why is the TV not showing the banner when I play a game.

I have tried changing my viewing settings from Gaming to Movie but again no banner and the TV settings do not adjust the picture settings to the HDR settings of max backlight and  max contrast as it doe's when i play a 4K Bluray on my Bluray player.

I have to keep adjusting the picture settings for non HDR games and standard games which is a pain.

Anybody out there got any ideas ?

I had the same issue with my UE65KS8000. Make sure you have the following settings set on your TV and XBox One X.

Go to TV settings -> Picture

Picture Mode Standard

Expert Settings -> HDMI UHD Color

Set HDMI1-4 to ON.

XBox One X

Settings ->Picture and sound -> Video output

Tv-resolution 4K UHD

Color depth  30 bits per pixel (10-bits)

Color space Standard

Avanced video settings ->

Allow 50 Hz checked

Allow 24 Hz checked

Allow HDR checked

Allow 4K checked

Allow YCC 4:2:2 checked

HTH.

I pretty much have the settings you state except I play on the game mode to limit the lag to minimum.

I know the game mode is bugged so you have to manually ramp up the backlight and contrast to max when a HDR game is played and reduced when a SDR game is played.

Wolfenstein 2 classification has now been amended on the Xbox enhanced games list to 4K only now as it was listed as hdr .

I have played another hdr game which the TV picked up as hdr and flagged the banner up when played so that seems to be working fine now, it’s just the non regognition of hdr games in game mode which is a niggle but this is going to be fixed in a future update I believe.

If you hit the select or enter button on your tv remote, it will tell you in the upper right corner of the tv if hdr is on.  It should have HDR & UHD in a box. If what your doing isn't HDR it will just have UHD in a box. Next to the resolution.

Did you try the settings I mentioned?

On your Xbox, check your TV's 4K and HDR capabilities: Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, go to System > Settings > Display & sound, then choose Advanced video settings > 4K TV details.  Check if the page says HDR is supported. If it does then you're good to go. The Xbox Home is not in HDR. To see some 4K HDR content download the Insects Demo Experience app.

It will tell you in the upper right hand corner of the screen where the resolution is if you hit the select button on your tv remote.

It's a glitch as a result of firmare updates that they still haven't fixed in even the most recent. I assure you your HDR is still working.
