Hello, Does anybody know if I need a set top box to get Freeview on my new Samsung UE43CU7100KXXU?  The Samsung TV plus app seems to block other terrestrial channels.  Many thanks , TheresaB

Hi @TheresaB  Freeview is built into all modern Samsung Tv's, you need to have an aerial connected and scan for channels, whereas Samsung Tv Plus works via the internet.https://www.samsung.com/scanning Channels , Freeview Guide here https://www.freeview.co.uk/help/categories-

If problems may find some help in this thread https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/tv/cannot-access-basic-freeview-channels-on-smart-tv-instead-tvp...

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Thanks James.

Unfortunately the Samsung TV Plus app blocks other channels from being discovered in auto tuning searches (there are a lot of conversations on here re. this). Unfortunately, Samsung stopped building Freeview into their TV’s in 2018 - but don’t seem to make mention of it on specs.   Some people have success by removing Samsung TV Plus and then scanning for terrestrial channels but a lot of people don’t (so a lot of people recommend a Freeview Set top box).  It’s all rather confusing 😟

Best,

Theresa

That's not true, Samsung stopped "Freeview" because its a brand license. They support digital broadcasting via DVB-T2C. A lot of miss information on this sadly. TV plus is mostly just a interface to handle the channels.

I've had 5 Samsung Tvs since 2020 and never had a single issue adding terrestrial channels

Thanks for clarifying that Gurky.  That’s really useful. As you say, it’s hard to judge what is correct or misinformation.  Please can I ask how you added the terrestrial channels?  My new Samsung only seems to recognise Samsung TV plus channels when I auto tune, even when I remove the app.

Many thanks,

In the TV settings you should see the option to tune in under broadcasting.
