I bought a new UE50RU7405. I am using the standard apps like Amazon prime. But when I use it for watching movies there is a black band which comes at the top and bottom. I tried to change the Picture Size Setting but it show "This function is not available". Is this normal, Picture Size Setting is always greyed out. Can you please explain.

Thanks

The truth of the matter is that if you are using ANY of the Samsung NATIVE apps on their silly Tyzen system or what ever it's called,  (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu etc) the picture size settings are blocked and not available.

I have a 50" QN90A, and an 85" on order. You will be forced to watch content with the top and bottom black bar. These black bars although intended by the ***** formatting movies, steal 32% of our real estate.

Would it not be more intelligent to make a movie that fits the screen "full screen"? Think about it? Is this too much to ask?

It's not like we could get an "extra 32% free!" like buying an oversized shampoo bottle, or other, quite the opposite, the black bars take away our viewing size and pleasure.

There is no work around. This is pathetic coming from Samsung, locking the user into a setting we do not like.. At least give us the screen size we paid for.

If however you buy a cheap $300-$400 JVC Roku Tv or any other cheap Roku tv, you will be able to change picture sizes. In other words you have to add an external streaming device in order to resize your picture. I know it works on Apple and external Roku's.

Actually, there is a work around but it's brutal. Go into the ACCESIBILITY -then graphic zoom. You could potentially zoom the picture to 130% but then there is a distinct loss of quality, and you still get a portion of black bar on top or on the bottom.

Samsung, we invite you to think...and think and, listen to what we want. Just add some software features, that will enable "full screen" ...not difficult.

The picture size settings are nit available to change so you end up watching a movie , essentially on a smaller screen. Had this information been made available I would not have bought this TV. My 12 year old TV has the function so you would expect new TV s to have the same. Its there but you can't use it ????
