Both standard and smart remotes only working up close.

Brand new 55" Qled (QE55Q80AATXXU).  Issues with both remotes.

Connected the TV directly to a Samsung Virgin Media Box  (SMT-G7400) 

I must be only 1 meter or so from the  Samsung media box for the remotes to work.
I have checked the batteries, smart is on 58% and standard remote has new batteries.

I have tried pairing/setting up the smart remote again, all to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Chris, yeah, I can navigate through the TV fine.

No idea whats has changed, smart remote is working fine. Standard remote is still sluggish, for example, I need to log press "channel up" for it to change and then it jumps 2 channels.
