Bbc iplayer not working

Hi,

I've been having trouble with BBC iplayer app on my smart tv. All the other apps are working. I've tried turning the tv off and on again, resetting my WiFi, deleting the app and reinstalling it. But I can't get any programmes to play.

What else can I try?

Sorry to hear of the issues with BBC iPlayer.

May I please ask, how old is your television? A number of television apps are currently being updated and are not compatible with televisions from 2014 and before.

@Members_0ryt5LF: I'm sorry to hear that you're having some issues with iPlayer on your TV. At this stage, please can you confirm the model number of the TV? This can be found on the sticker on the back of the device, or in Settings > Support > About This TV.

iplayer does not work on our tv, open the app, select a program and it makes a noise and exits the app.

I have tried reinstalling it and it made no difference. It seems to be that programs over half an hour won’t open as my son can still watch short kids tv episodes on it.

Hello I have the same problem with the iplayer app not working, my Samsung tv is from 2020. Any ideas? It would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Andrew,

We  are unable to use the iplayer app also, I open the app, select a program, wheel goes round as if it’s loading and then there’s a noise and it exits the app. Very annoying not to be able to watch anything on the BBC this Christmas considering the hefty license fee!

I too have this problem on my The Frame TV 2020 LS03T - I’ve tried numerous things to fix it including a full reset of the TV & reinstall of all the apps, but it still won’t load iPlayer ?

Same with me iplayer loads but when you go to view a programme it crashes

Has there been a resolution to this? My TV was purchased around 2020 and the only issue is with the BBC iPlayer app. It also makes the whole TV act slow and lethargic after trying to access.

I would suggest that the issue is more likely to be with the iPlayer than your TV.

I would recommend you reach out to the BBC iPlayer developers through the app on the Google Play Store to find out what the issue is
