I've just bought a UE43AU8000, and I'm having an issue with the audio setup. It's connected to a Sony DAV-DZ260 DVD Home Theater System via HDMI (on the ARC port) and Optical.
The main issue is that when you switch the audio output on the TV from 'TV Speakers' to 'Receiver (HDMI)', it will switch back to 'TV Speakers' in a few seconds. In the few seconds it is outputting to 'Receiver (HDMI)' everything is working perfectly, audio is being outputted over the optical cable, and volume control is going over HDMI. Switching it to 'Optical' output does stick, but obviously I lose volume control.
Now I realise that the receiver is pretty old now, and doesn't support ARC or eARC, but the TV is capable of doing exactly what I want, it just won't stay there.
Does anyone know how to fix this, and get it to stay on the 'Receiver (HDMI)' output setting?

So I update my Samsung S95B to 1520.7 firmware. Still have the same problem my Yamaha RX-A2050 doesn't start up with the tv it starts after 15 seconds and the tv changes to TV speaker because of it. So This is not fixed , I doubt it will ever be fixed.

I have Samsung TV UE40MU6120 at which I've connected a Sony home theater system. When selecting on TV sound output the HDMI was eventually switching to TV speaker and sometimes was flipping between them for a while to eventually hide HDMI and stay on TV speakers, but the Sony home theater was working in parallel.
I've done the following and it seems to work.
1) Unplug all HDMI's from TV.
2) TV on Youtube playing, Sony theater on, HDMI already plugged into Sony, now plug it into Samsung TV ARC slot.
3) Don't plug yet any other HDMI's and try it like this for a while. It should work.
To me it seems Samsung TV has a conflict between the HDMI's ports.
when I turn off the TV , Sony theater follows and turns off as well.
when I turn the TV on, Sony doesn't automatically start, but it selects HDMI sound all the times, once I turn Sony on.
But no other HDMI is plugged in at the moment.

I have the same issue. I bought a $40 HDMI cable, no fix. Samsung support is useless. When it switches to TV Speakers, if I unplug/plug in the TV it reverts to HDMI output (for a while). This is obviously a software issue SAMSUNG! They need to fix it!

I also have been living with this issue for 4 years. I'm currently looking to buy a new tv. Is this still a problem for new Samsung tvs, or is it just older ones? If new Samsungs don't have the problem, then I'll stick with them. Otherwise I'll have to switch to a different brand because this problem is infuriating.

After 2 months with Samsung support, try this, try that, I wrote a letter to their corporate office. I got a reply and, when I called, got a knowledgeable technician! He accessed my TV and changed several settings. HDMI still failed. He finally connected with Bluetooth and, so far, success! The bar even displays a greeting and a goodbye when turned On and Off. He has no idea why HDMI fails! Corporate did offer to send a tech to my home. but I pay. No thx!

I updated my firmware, and it worked fine for a while, then it started doing it again. then TV started turning itself off when I was using the Roku. I finally got pissed off and bought a new Samsung to replace my 6-7 year old 55". Fixed both issues, lol! I now use the old TV - with the Roku, in a Bedroom. As long as it isn't connected to the theatre system, it works just like new. I would guess this would work for you as well.

I also got pissed off. Except I purchased a Sony after someone I worked with who used to work at BestBuy said he would never recommend a Samsung TV to a friend. Samsung is for smartphones.

Almost 2024, same problem. How is it possible that this important problem is still not solved?
