I've just bought a UE43AU8000, and I'm having an issue with the audio setup. It's connected to a Sony DAV-DZ260 DVD Home Theater System via HDMI (on the ARC port) and Optical.
The main issue is that when you switch the audio output on the TV from 'TV Speakers' to 'Receiver (HDMI)', it will switch back to 'TV Speakers' in a few seconds. In the few seconds it is outputting to 'Receiver (HDMI)' everything is working perfectly, audio is being outputted over the optical cable, and volume control is going over HDMI. Switching it to 'Optical' output does stick, but obviously I lose volume control.
Now I realise that the receiver is pretty old now, and doesn't support ARC or eARC, but the TV is capable of doing exactly what I want, it just won't stay there.
Does anyone know how to fix this, and get it to stay on the 'Receiver (HDMI)' output setting?

The problem is the firmware 1401 that broke the HDMI e-arc. It switches to TV speakers automatically. Whenever I want to use my AV receiver, it'll switch it back to TV speakers. In the UK, there is a beta patch that is supposed to help but is not available in the US. Here is the thread: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/tv/tv-switching-itself-to-tv-speaker-since-25-8-2022/m-p/6378937....
What I do is turn off Anynet+ and wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. From there it automatically switches to my AVR and stays there. There are times when the TV speakers and the receiver are both running, just do it again and it should stay to the external device. No idea when this 1401 firmware will be patched by Samsung. But it's already almost a year and it sucks there wasn't a patch to fix it. This messed up our 75" RU8000.
Anyway, this'll be my last Samsung product because if future patches break something, it'll take over a year to get fixed if they even get around to it.

Just a quick update for anyone interested:
See the second post in this entire thread for my situation, but my QE43Q60AA was presenting me with the firmware version 2101 as the latest available for my TV, via auto-update, which once applied, made no difference at all to the problem I was experiencing. The Samsung website however, was offering me firmware version 2111 for my TV.
I applied this via the USB update method, moved my HDMI cable back to the eARC socket and everything has been working perfectly, and as expected, since doing so.
Hope this helps someone...anyone.

Another update (I realise this is a zombie thread, but most searches for 'samsung tv keeps switching back to tv speakers' seem to come to this thread)
Mine's a Samsung ue43bu8500 (UK version). There doesn't seem to be a 1409 firmware for this model.
It's connected to a Samsung HW-K-335 soundbar by optical cable, and sound output set to 'optical'
Pretty much from the start, the sound output kept switching back to 'TV Speakers'. Lots of frustrated research failed to find a solution - and plenty of others in the same boat.
Two days ago, on a whim, I disconnected and re-connected the optical link. The TV has remained connected to 'Optical' ever since, including through a couple of power cycles.
It seems to be a bit of a lame fix, really, and it's only been a couple of days but... well... maybe worth a try if you're here looking for a solution.

Check the Samsung site for a newer firmware, mate.
The exercise in my post (just before yours) has resolved my issue completely.

Can you tell us in detail exactly what correct settings you used that worked?

I was having the sane issue, but have figured out what the problem is. Initially I had my HDMI cable connected to the Input port of my Klipsch sound bar. When I changed it to the Output port on the soundbar, things worked perfectly. So to recap, on the TV side, connect yhe HDMI ARC port, on the Soundbar (maybe also on the audio sound system) connect the other side of the HDMI cable to the HDMI output port. Things should work for me, boy did it work for me. I'm watching Yellowstone and the profanities come across loud and clear, such that I need to turn the volume down

I have the same issue with my Samsung Q90T and Q900T soundbar which were supposed to create the perfect combined sound system.
The TV keeps resetting to TV sound every minute or so. Initially I found a workaround by switching on and off Intelligent Mode but currently nothing's working anymore.
Please Samsung, provide us with a workable update.

When I fill in my Tv information on the Samsung support website it only provides me with firmware version 2401.1. Which is already the version on my tv (the tv states version 2401).
