2020 Frame TV light sensor adjustment not working in Art mode

Recently purchased the 2020 65" Frame TV, and very happy so far with one exception:

I understood that the light sensor helped adjust the lighted art display level to match surrounding light levels.  So far this doesn't seem to be working for us, giving the art an unnatural "glow" in the evenings or even midday when the lights are off in the living room in favor of sunlight.  The only partial solution seems to be manually changing the brightness within the Art mode settings, which I refuse to do multiple times a day.  Am I missing something here?  Please help.

Just bought a 50" Frame 2020 model and have the same issue as others on this thread. Just looks like a normal TV with strong glow while in art mode. Very disappointed.

I have a 2019 43" frame and just installed a 75" 2020 frame.  Like others with two frames I am noticing the same problem -- it is especially glaring if you have an older frame that works correctly.  My 2019 frame gets very dim when I turn the lights off.  The 2020 does not really change at all, though like others I have seen inconsistencies in that sometimes it does adjust, but most times it does not, and never as much as the 2019 version.

One key note - the 2019 version allows adaptive picture + all eco mode adjustments.  The 2020 version will disable eco mode if you use adaptive picture.  Leads me to believe that Samsung is aware of this issue and is trying to address it by taking away feature combinations (i.e. if the features conflict, do not allow both at the same time even though they work in tandem on the 2019).

Has anyone had much luck on this? I've just created a Support request with Samsung as this is occurring on my new 65" Frame. One week old, hasn't worked at all. I've performed a factory reset, played around with adaptive picture, disabled Night Mode per some other recommendations. Nothing seems to help. The brightness will not adjust automatically, nor does the motion and night mode work.

I'm also having the same problem with a 32" and 65" 2020 Frame TVs. Previous 55" 2017 Frame TV worked fine. When is this going to be resolved? I'm very disappointed as I could have saved a lot of money and just bought normal TVs, which is pretty much what this problem not being resolved is making my TVs appear to be...

Samsung support were able to assist by remotely logging into the TV and performing a factory reset. Note: this is different to the reset we can do through the UI which I had already performed. Looks like this may have only been accessible by support.

Did it fix the problem? Because they reset my 32 inch TV and it didn't resolve anything...

After resetting the TV, I could see the ambient light sensor working as the screen brightness would begin adjusting. So yes, that seemed to have helped.

I will say though, the screen still doesn't get very dim when the room is dark. It still emits an unnatural backlight glow which makes it look very much like a TV. The promotional materials suggest it can have the backlight reduce to the point where it's basically off, which I still haven't been able to experience.

So whilst the ambient light sensor seems to actually work, and react; I'm left a bit underwhelmed with the results compared to what I was expecting.

Hey everyone!

I have made a breakthrough discovery!
I was struggling to get the ART mode to get to the correct brightness at night. It would always be too bright if set on the minimum brightness.

Out of desperation I tried to replaced the LED bulb of one or my main table lamps in the living room with a halogen one I had stored.

BINGO!  The TV recognizes the brightness Perfectly now and sets itself to the Exact brightness needed !

Clearly there is a problem with detecting LED lighting brightness. I have opened a ticket with Samsung about this. I am not holding my breath though :winking-face:  So for now the halogen bulb remains.

Hope this helps some!

im not so sure this was the cause for the problem, the room that I had it in had tremendous amount of natural light, and the tv stayed the same brightness in art mode day and night, it was always in the middle, in the daytime the tv looked very dark and at night it lit up the whole room.

I reached out to support.  They suggested I use the SmartThings app to (i) reduce the brightness in art mode manually, and (ii) increase the sensitivity of the sensor.  This seems to have worked for now!
