This is what's making me think no update.

The s22 is in the same situation. Earlier I saw someone get a reply from samsung support saying the s22 won't get it. So my best guess is that means the tab s8 won't either

Tab S8 is not eligible for 8.5.

One UI 8.5 is exclusive to devices that are also eligible for One UI 9.0

Where did you get your source from? Is that directly with Samsung (I'm guessing)?

Nah, we don't actually get any info or access that you don't have access to. I'm literally just a normal person with google, except I have a badge to say I usually know what I'm talking about
