Settings app search suggestions broken on Tab S7 FE Wifi edition.

Settings search broken only when doing a search inside the Settings app, but the suggestion is working fine when using in Finder (swipe up on home screen)

When search in settings app, no matter you type in or pressing a hash tags, there is no result, only shows a loading circle icon.

Already tried to clear cache and storage for the Settings app and SettingSuggestions app but no helping.

I have done a factory reset then it appears to be working again, but after a few app install and updates, it breaks again. Don't know what the root cause is but it seems to be a buggy system updates.

My temporary solution if this search brokes:

0. disable auto installing updates in Galaxy Store and Google Play Store (prevents from search auto break again)

1. uninstall some updates/aps in Google Play Store until search works again.
2. install one update or app
3. check if seach working
4. repeat 2 & 3 untill you have all updates/apps you need
5. if search breaks again - start from pt.1

and: Never ever click update/all neigther Google Store or Galaxystore - it will break search aprox. 80% of times

It may be frustrating, but works for me. I have search working after 2 hours, and all my apps updated.

So annoying, especialy when you have apps, especialy games with gigs of data installed, and you need to delete them... and download these gigs of data again...

By instaling last update for Google Messages i broken search again.

But...
I can repair it again (search) by uninstalling updates for Google messages

Is it coincidence, or not...

Yes I agree with your solution.

Right now I have disabled the auto-update in Play Store. Each time when I install a new app or updating an existing app, I will first check to ensure the search is working fine, and after installing a single app, I will immediately confirm if the search is still working.

So far, it does not break the search if I only install the apps ONE BY ONE. I doubt that it is not any individual app, but rather the WAY OF INSTALLING the apps, that is the root cause of a corrupted database, especially when you do an UPDATE ALL operation is likely to be the root cause, but I can't confirm anyway.

I will keep this thread opened and hopefully the devs team can read this and fix the bug in the upcoming releases.

Hi, I already have Google Messages app installed, and currently the search was working fine. In my case, however, when I try to reinstall Google Messages, although it didn't break the search, but it wipe out all search history in settings, where obviously it should not have done that.

So, it seems that the bug behaves in an unpredictable way, but I can confirm that it will actually affect the database index being used when we search settings, so occasionally it will break the search function.

Same here, the search hasn't worked for weeks. I haven't the time to do a factory reset. I've tried uninstalling the last few apps but it still doesn't work. Hoping that Samsung will fix this. I notice A8 Lite owners are getting the same problem.

Just to put my latest update from my last temporary fix. The bug finally came back again!

I have already disabled auto update from play store, and the settings search was working fine a week ago. But today I test it the search is broken again. So annoying!! During this period I did not update any of my existing apps, but the bug still came back. Now I have no idea what caused this problem.

I hope more people report this bug to Samsung and push them to fix this bug in their next update.

Hi, i have the same problem with my tab s7 FE. I have the 4gb RAM version, maybe it has something to do with the small amount of RAM left at normal use? I have only about 750MB RAM left when i have one or two apps open. Samsung please adress this problem!

HI. I have the same problem and testing everything, but Nothing doesn't work so far. As you said, after a factory reset, if you update apps one by one, it works temporarily, I even solved it for one day, but the problem came back. So if you find any solution, please share. I hope Samsung fixes it soon.

Thank you
