S8+ Random Restart Issue

Hi guys,

I don't use my tab a lot at the moment but I've started to notice a worrying trend... every time I go to pick it up, probably weekly at the moment I'd say, it has restarted on it's own. It's not just the 72hr AFU timeout, where you just need to re-enter your security info and biometrics are disabled, it's a full restart - I get the device is starting progress bar etc. 

Any ideas what's suddenly started causing it?

I used the tab a lot (for me anyway) over last weekend and a bit in the week. Not used it for a few days and straight away as I did just a moment ago, I noticed the tablet had restarted. As I woke the tab up with the case cover, I caught a glimpse of a OneUI optomisation screen - so something had been going on.

Has literally no one else experienced this sort of behaviour from their tab or have any suggestions for me?

@slipd: If you're finding that your tablet is restarting unexpectedly, please try heading to Settings > Device care > Auto optimisation > Auto restart > Toggle off 'Restart when needed' or 'Restart on schedule' if applicable. I also recommend uninstalling any apps that you have added to the tablet since you first encountered the problem, just in case the issue is stemming from an external source.

Hmm, it's still doing it. I'm trying to work out timelines and I'm now almost certain that it's only been behaving like this since the last patch update. No new apps, like I say, I don't really use it a lot so my apps are fairly static. Maybe onto a factory reset next? - it's never had one since new.

Update: So, not a random restart at all, after all that... a Samsung system feature. Surprised no one here knew about it?

It's called "Inactivity restart" and it occurs after 72hrs, unless disabled.
