I can't get the Battery Protect feature to work. It's supposed to limit the charging of the battery to 85% but it doesn't. This is a very useful feature if it worked, extending the life of my other device's batteries by over a year. Has anyone got it to work?

What do you mean it doesn't work?
If you have the setting turned on, and have restarted the device, then it will be on.
If its ON, then when your battery shows 100%, its actually only 85%.
The battery is recalibrated so that 85% becomes a full charge, so it will show up as 100% charged.
You can test this for yourself using an app that can measure the battery voltage, such as ampere, and then compare the battery voltage at 100% with the setting ON, and OFF, you should see the voltage will be lower with the setting ON.

With it on, I charge it til it says its 100%. Then I switch it off and restart. It still says it's 100% when it should say 85%. Accubattery confirms this

You can't trust the battery % given. Check the battery voltage.

You also have to restart when you turn the setting ON, as well as OFF, are you restarting both times?

Yep, always double checked. Just charged and discharged twice, once with battery protect on and once with battery protect off. Voltage at 100% when off was 4241mV. When on, voltage was 4239mV. So effectively no difference.

Samsung's "experts" are unable to solve this issue, in fact are unable to even understand what the issue is. The "experts" suggested asking their Facebook people who are clearly Marketing and PR people who struggle with anything more technical than "have you turned it off and on again"!

Me too, and it doesn't. Charge it to full with Protect Battery on or off, it reaches exactly the same voltage (+/- a few mV)
