My Tab S5e fingerprint sensor is not working

When I put my finger on the side  key there is absolutely no response at all. I have to open with my pass code. I can generally cope with this except that this means if I want to pay for something it won't work. Is this fixable or is it just dead?

Hey @050154 ,

That doesn't seem to be the right behaviour of the fingerprint sensor. I would suggest running a test to see if there is anything wrong with it. To do this launch the Samsung Members app> Get help> Diagnostics> Start> Fingerprint recognition.

I just noticed i have the same problem. Tab has been very low usage so i dont know how long its been this way. And i had location based lock free.

I just tried factory reset and it did not help. Sensor wont work and keeps telling me to clean it.
samsung diagnostic just says it has error.

Wish i could just rollback to ealier version to check if it works there

You can't run the fingerprint diagnostic without having a fingerprint registered. Which obviously you cannot do
