So I recently acquired this tablet and the dock keeps connecting and disconnecting with the slightest of movement. I can find a spot where it appears to be stable but not much use if I want to use it as a laptop sitting in my lap. I of course found a lot of posts online regarding this issue and the problem appears to lie in the dock. I decided to open up the dock to have a look inside and found that the connecting cable has serious damage possibly due to arcing. Has anyone else noticed this with their device? Looking at the condition I will obviously not be connecting the tablet to the dock in order to avoid any damage to the tablet itself. I have seen some cables on sale but perhaps that alone will not be enough as the board is probably damaged as well.

Yes that's what I thought. I am still interested to know if someone else has seen the same damage and also if this was caused because of poor contact between the tablet and dock or something else!

I doubt they'd open it to investigate like you have but yes you may get confirmation it stopped working unless held at an odd angle. There's a chance it was poor contact but looking at the oddly corroded power cable top left and surrounding components, I reckon that's the source of the damage to the dock connection too. It looks like battery acid but how it would get there is a bit unclear

I reckon the corrosion around the power cable could be due to liquid damage which appears to be limited to that area of the board but I have seen a used cable for sale online that had similar damage to one end of the 40 pin connector so this could well be that common fault causing the problem in these models.
