Call & text on other devices

Hi I just bought an A7 lite 4g and having problems connecting to my s9.  I've tried resetting WiFi,  both phone and tablet have the latest updates installed and I have also tried factory reset but still isn't working.  Can anyone suggest anything else i could try. thankyou

Do both devices have the call & text feature available and enabled? This can be found in the control panel as seen here.
