Towards the end of the summer, Samsung ran various promotions which included cash back which was to be paid some 45 days after claim.
A number of members came on here to vent their concerns at cash back delays, some ill informed members even suggesting it was a scam.
Today the Advertising Standards Authority provided clarification on the delays and the cause. Whilst the ASA did say that Samsung should have put processes in place to ensure everyone who was entitled received their cashback when due, the narrative does provide some clarity.
In essence, Samsung used a third party provider who submitted the claims on time but there were issues with the banking system and maintenance. As a result, some claims were not processed and the third party provider had to run a manual process to check who had and who hadn't been paid which took some time.
It was also noted that around 1% of those customers affected also provided incorrect bank details. It is really important when claiming that you provide the right bank details. So these were not the fault of Samsung but of the customer.
Hopefully this thread provides a little comfort as to the reason for the delays which by the sound of it were more to do with the bbls m banks and in a small number of cases the customer.
