Problems after installing UI 4.0 on S21 Ultra:
- apps keep crashing. eg. Outlook, Google Search, Prime Video, etc.
- Facebooks works but i can't open posts.
- The entire system also runs very slow and stutters alot.
- battery seems to drain faster atm.

Tried solutions:
- Wiping app caches
- Wiping cach from maintenance mode
- Repairing apps from maintenace mode
- Reinstalling apps (also from Galaxy Store)

Installing Outlook from the Galaxy Store shortly solved the Outlook crash problem but it started crashing again after just one day of use.

I can't believe this build is called finished. This is clearly an unfinished product and these problems should have been solved in the beta.

@Samsung please fix! Phone is close to unusable.

Update: 3 dec. 2021
Installed the newest update ending with BUKG.
Unfortunately this did not solve my earlier problems.
I then tried all the above solutions again without success.

As i wasn't expecting another new update from Samsung any time soon i had to try a factory reset.
Luckily the factory reset has solved most of the before mentioned problems. Even the installation of the OS itself seems to look different.
I do believe that the factory reset in combination with the BUKG update solved the problem.
But the fact that a factory reset is necessary isn't a good situation and i hope less people have problems updating directly to the BUKG update instead of first receiving the BUK8.

Reinstalling and setting up all my apps takes hours of work and that doesn't even include the 2 factor authentication problems I'm running into with some apps and accounts.
I really hope that all remaining Samsung phones that our receiving the UI 4.0 update don't have these problems.
Let's hope the suffering of the S21 users has provided Samsung with enough data to iron out the kinks in upcoming updates😉

Edit: some apps seems to crash in some instances. I believe this might be a problem with them not being fully compatible with Android 12 or UI4.0.

Update 7 dec 2021
Phone rebooted partially today. Didnt have to enter my pin but i did get a notice that my phone had restarted.

Strangely enough this seems to have reset certain system settings to default.
Eg. The touch vibration had been turned on again while i had this turned off and also certain keyboard options like auto replace were turned back on.

Eventhough most problems were solved with the install of the BUKG update and a factory reset not all problems seem to be solved.
I've sent an log through the Samsung members app.

Last year when the previous android came out the exact same thing happened to my S20 Ultra. A factory reset solved it for me.

Eventually i might reinstall if i read that it has solved these problems for more people. But you must agree that a factory reset of your phone is quite a hassle for the most of us.

I dont really agree with that statement no.

All my files and important data is backupped on my SD card + another external location. I can reset whenever I want reset takes a few min and reinstalling the important apps another 10min. You came here because you wanted help with your problem. So take the advice or not its up to you.

I believe this is an open forum to discuss things. I've thanked you for your suggestion and respectfully declined and explained why.
That doesn't mean i can't discuss the situation further.

Never noticed it before but good to know that it's not something new or specific to Android 12.

To anyone with the same problems with UI 4.0/android 12 that have solved the problem with a factory reset a post here would be appreciated.

To anyone that isn't ready yet to reset, incl. myself :winking-face: My thoughts and a few workarounds summarized.

I might be stating the obvious but:

- I believe there is an incompatibility between the apps and Android 12/UI 4.0
- UI 4.0 has some bugs that need to be ironed out.

A few workarounds i have applied to make the situation more bearable.

Outlook:
Installed the older version from the galaxy store and disabled auto-update from the play store. The newer version in the play store seems to have the crashing problem.

Facebook:
I think the problem might be caused by a setting in Facebook to open 3rd party links in a external browser. I read that android 12 disables this in Chrome and Facebook has removed the setting from the settings.
Installing an older version doesn't work, neither does reinstalling so I'm temporarily using Facebook light.

Spotify:
Stops working when i turn off the screen, even with the option to work in the background turned on.
In the phone settings under Apps i gave the Spotify app permissions to run in the background.

Miscellaneous:
I also noticed that some apps seems to crash when opening another. The links between some apps seems to be broken. When opening the app manually some apps seem to work fine.
