Wrong photos orientation in Samsung Gallery app

My Galaxy S9+ got recently the OneDrive integration in the Gallery app. All the pics I had on my OneDrive (+300GB) started syncing to the gallery which is great, but most of them did it in the wrong orientation and those pictures will be deformed if you open them (see screenshot attached). This applies only to pictures that were taken in vertical mode. If I click on "edit", the editor will "fix" the orientation issue and the picture will be shown correctly after that. But as I have thousands of pictures on my collection, I would like to know if there is another fix for this issue.

Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem in 2025. I wonder why no one replied. I am sure many others will have this problem. The only way I can solve this is by downloading them to my device which means it will take up storage space.

Hi there,

I have found the same problem when i started saving photos in heic format (high efficency). In my situation the issue is related to this format,  if you save in jpeg all it's ok. Is it the same in your case as well?

Yes that is correct. I have reported this problem or error to Samsung support. Not sure if they will fix it in the near future. I just use JPG now to take photos.

Not sure why Samsung don't have cross device support for this format if they offer it as a standard for taking photos with their new devices.

It is a shame.
