Text Notification Sound Stops Working After Connecting to Car

I got a new car (Toyota Rav4 Hyrbrid) back in October and Ive been having this issue since connecting my Samsung s21 to Android Auto.
It connects great through Bluetooth and works fine but once I leave the car, text notification sounds stop completely on my phone. Ive tried disconnecting Bluetooth on my phone and trying to connect only through a direct connect wire into the car (which still turns the Bluetooth on my phone regardless,) disconnecting text messages permissions in settings in Android Auto and nothing seems to bring the notification sounds back. Ive been slowly getting used to just having to check my phone periodically for texts but its super annoying!

I have tje same problem im not sure what the cause is. This isn't a perfect fix but if you go to:

Settings: Notifications: Advanced Settings: Repeat Notification Alerts turn it on and add apps you want to get notifications from. It still won't notify you when you first get the message but it will repeat with sound minutes later....
