Hi All,

My parents phone just started acting up this week whereas when the phone is sitting on the desk and when someone calls it is nice and loud but when it is lifted off the table to hold the phone it lowers its volume. What setting to fix it from lifting off a table whereas the volume stay the same no matter what.

For example today, my parent misplace the phone and since its not sitting on a flat surface, the ring volume was extremely low. I thought it would be a gesture setting but I tried tinkering with some of them and have no luck.

Did some research and people talk about sound volume low issue but it doesn't seem like it is related to the issue I am having. Any information is appreciated! Thank you.

This may be a 3rd party app or customisation that's causing this. Try the phone in safe mode and see if it helps.

To get to Safe Mode - Long press Power button, long press Power off icon, tap Safe mode icon. (When booted into Safe mode, you may need to turn off flight mode as it sometimes enables itself). Monitor your devices behaviour. If the issue is fixed, then you know it's a 3rd party app or customisation that was the culprit. It's then up to you to determine which one by a process of elimination.

Thank you for your suggestion. I was praying and hoping it was 3rd party app while putting the phone into safe mode base on your instructions above. Unfortunately, I called the device again in safe mode, when the phone sit on the desk, its nice and loud but as soon as I pick it up, the volume goes from 100% to 20%.  😢
