S21 FE wired headphones not working

I recently bought some wired headphones and my phone doesn't seem to recognise them. I use a 3.5mm to USB-C adaptor with DAC built in, and it works on my old phone but not this one. I've tried messing with the USB audio routing in developer settings like other threads suggest but it hasn't worked. When I go to the USB-C headphones system app, it shows no battery usage at all, and I can't clean cache because it hasn't even been in use. When I plug them in there's no popup of any kind. Is there something else I can try?

Is your adapter OTG? Can you give details of the one you are using as well as the earphones

The adaptor is: La Brodée 3.5mm aux to USB-C adaptor
The headphones are: Linsoul Salnotes Zero.

Both work fine on my old S20

Unfortunately your adapter is not OTG, so when you plug it in, the phone doesn't know it's there. You need to ensure the adapter/cable is OTG
