Go to your Home screen.
Tap the Apps Menu.
Tap on the Settings.
Scroll to Backup and Reset.
Select on Device Management.
Tap on Auto Restart.
Choose your scheduled date and time. ...Turn on this feature and exit the menu.

@mrfozzy: Can you try restarting your S9 in Safe Mode and monitoring the performance for a little while. If the problem doesn't persist then please restart the phone as you would normally and remove any recently installed 3rd party apps, as the issue is likely to be stemming from an external source. To access Safe Mode, press and hold the Power button until the 'Power off' prompt appears on the screen then release > Touch and hold Power off until the 'Safe mode' prompt appears then release > To confirm, tap Safe mode > With Safe Mode enabled, ensure Airplane Mode is turned off. Let me know how you get on.
