I have been trying to buy a bus pass for weeks but I can't because Samsung insists on validation with my old phone number. I cannot explain this. I have changed the number with the bank. The old number has been removed entirely from the account. I have changed the number on all accounts. I can find no trace of my old number anywhere, period. Not on any account. Not anywhere. I have systemically been working to remove this number for a year or more. Checking and rechecking every possible avenue. Can you please explain in the most basic language where this number still exists and how to get rid of it? Obviously I have checked Samsung and Google extensively. Do I need to just buy a new phone to get rid of the number? The Sim card in my phone is associated with my new number so I am very very very confused. I no longer even own the old phone number anymore so it is not even in my name.

@kESAI: If you are having some issues with the 2-step verification feature on your Samsung account, then you can change the registered phone number via a Galaxy device with the relevant Samsung account registered to it, or via a home computer (PC or Mac). For more information, please take a look at the guide in the link below.

When you activated 2-step verification on your account, you will have received an email to notify you of the activation. Included in the body of this email are some backup codes that you can use in instances such as this, where you're unable to receive the verification codes via SMS. If you check your email inbox for the email, then you can use the backup code as a temporary workaround until you're able to register your updated phone number to your Samsung account. I hope this helps.
