I've lost ring tones, other notifications working fine. I think it's since I last installed an update. Checked all the obvious, do o need another update? What can I do?

Have you checked all volume settings? Made sure ring tone is turned up?. You can give the device a restart or a reboot. See if that fixes the issue.

Yes done all that. It's like there are no ringtones to select from. Restarted several times, checked do not disturb or call forwarding isn't on.

A broadsworded option is >
- Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }
I hope this helps @rsh123
