When I press save attachment on Samsung messages, they used to save to gallery, which I setup to save to SD card. This has worked for 3 years. Suddenly they are saving to Files>downloads, internal to phone, not even to DCIM. I have to navigate to files>internal storage>Download, then select each photo, then select move to SD card. I have gone into apps, gallery and messages, cleared the cache and rebooted the phone a dozen times. I can’t find anywhere to tell messages where I want attachments saved. And, why did this suddenly start happening after 3 years? If I clear data will I loose ALL my messages?

My theory is that as newer phones have no SD card maybe that is what the default is now.
Not sure if you are able to change it some how.
I don't have the phone so can't help further.

Hours and hours and hours of research later … messages are now being saved to downloads folder in gallery. They used to save to VZmedia. NUTS!
