I have an S21 Ultra. Worked beautifully for the last year. Updated this morning, and screen will not accept taps, so basically it is bricked. There are HUNDREDS of people with the same problem. I have re-installed firmware with Odin and still screen is non functional.
This is a way of Samsung forcing you to get a new phone. Apple did the same with their battery life.
Its the way big business work and they should all be disgusted with themselves.
Never again will I buy ANY samsung product. EVER.
We all need to think about a class action.
UPDATE: And Samsung have promoted me to student!!!WTF! I'd rather they sent me a new bloody phone!!!
NEW UPDATE: And now, thanks to all the replies/views from you lovely people, I have been promoted to Apprentice!! Samsung WTF...just sort out a solution for God sake!!!

I posted this a few days ago. I wanted to upgrade my Samsung S10, and I don't like phone "contracts." Therefore, I bought a BRAND NEW FACTORY SEALED IN BOX Samsung S21 5g on eBay. I took the phone out of the box, transferred my information, and put in my SIM card. I left the phone to charge and the next day a pop up appeared for me to update to UI 6.1. The phone updated, then said it was updating my apps.
Yep, you guessed it. The touchscreen was totally unresponsive. I took it to my cell phone provider who did a soft reset, then he referred me to a local cell phone repair shop. Luckily he was able to get me to the prompt so I could remove my data. Since the phone had a 30 day money back guarantee I labeled it as defective and returned it.
I ordered another brand new phone, also in a sealed box from another seller that arriving today. It appears that some people have had no issues, but there's an unusual amount of people that have the same screen freeze after updating. I talked to Samsung both in chat and via phone and they were basically no help.
The phone arrives today and I'm torn between just turning off the updates or "rolling the dice" and giving it another go. If the update does this again on my 2nd brand new phone, I guess I'll just return it and look for an iPhone...

I bought a Nokia for exactly the same reason. Never again will i buy anything Samsung..not phone, not tv, not monitor. At the end of the day, they just don't give a flying F**K about there consumers.

My problem is also same after updating to ui 6.1 in my s21 there are few problems as follows-
I would request samsung to do not follow these cheap strategy to convince people psychologically to buy new phone as apple has been doing since long time .
ONE UI 6.1 UPFATE IS ABSOLUTELY HAS MADE THE LIKE GARBAGE
I WONT BUY SAMSUNG AGAINT NOR MY WHOLE CIRCLE OF FRIND AND FAMILY ..

Don't you just love planned obsolescence. The fold and flip 6s are garbage in comparison. My fold 3 worked flawlessly until the may 2024 update and all the sudden my screen stopped responding right. Updated to the June 2024 update. They made the issue worse. Their response? Oh just go get the fold 6.
