With the last and final firmware update for the now unsupported S20 came significant rapid battery drain. I'm talking 1% every 30s-1min or so.
Coincidence?
It's almost as if they are trying to "encourage" S20 users to upgrade by skeaking in excessive battery drain.
So I did an experiment.. as it's not my main phone...
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it, then formatted it and installed Vulcan (an unofficial alternative to OneUI). Guess what.. No battery drain other than the slow gradual drain you get with normal usage.
Obviously I can't prove my theory about the drain being by design for the final firmware, but still...

Most people upgrade 2-5 years just for the added security new software and hardware enables.

Also lithium batteries will degrade regardless whether you use them or not.
Happy days.😊

I'm having the same issue. It looks like all of the latest updates are causing problems with different models.

I am having the same issue. After software update the battery drains too fast. From 100% to 15% within 6 hours of standby time..

Is there a way to go back to previous firmware?
