deleted photo from gallery NOT deleting from OneDrive

I have a galaxy S21FE.

My gallery photos & videos are synching with one drive correctly.

If I delete a photo from onedrive (either from onedrive on PC or onedrive on phone) it is deleted from gallery as well during the synch.

However, if i delete photo form gallery, IT IS NOT deleted from my onedrive at all despite forcing synchronisation.

why is the synchronisation for deleted photos not working both ways?

I think that's how it's been designed. Google photos work the same

thanks for reply but not sure this is correct. in the past it has worked both ways but now it has stopped!

That's how it works, if you want to delete a photo, it will only delete it from the gallery not from both onedrive and gallery.

Tested it on my device.

Took a picture, synced, appeared on onedrive, deleted photo, synced, was put in recycle bin in onedrive.
So it should work

Make sure your phone is updated?

It's kinda out of our control. As in, it either works or it doesn't. Besides turning it off and back on again, not sure of anything else to suggest

thanks for the replies. 

my phone is fully up to date. it would seem that it should work (searchs on internet state synchronisation is bi directional) but for most users most of the time it does not!
