Any idea why Samsung are recommending a factory reset on my phone for a faulty charging port instead of agreeing to fix it and if i don't do a factory reset I'll be charged for the repair! Big brand poor! sorry no customer service they are now no better than apple!

Have you had the phone assessed elsewhere to definitely know this is a hardware issue @gray170  ?

Personally I advise people to use a torch to look inside the port just to ensure that the issue isn't a build up of debris.

Samsung would suggest a factory reset after backing up as this is a good way of resolving most issues.

Obviously this would not resolve a hardware issue but as a troubleshooting guide this rules out most other issues.

Then a Samsung Service Centre can assess the phone to determine the issue and advise the best course of action.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care.  😎
