@geordie444: Further to the advice offered by @millerman please head to Settings > Display > Edge Screen > Edge Panel, and make sure that 'Tools' is enabled with a tick above the panel. Now, when you access the Edge Panel, swipe over to Tools and Compass should be the top option (Wi-Fi or Mobile Data is required to calibrate the compass). I hope this helps.
